Throughout my life, I have been using songwriting to cope with the philosophical and existential challenges I have struggled with. When times are hard, and sometimes when they are good, writing a song about it always helps me better process what I am experiencing. Broke LJ is the culmination of that artistic drive, showcasing these musical works tackling topics like mental health, substance abuse, homelessness, grief, and more. If you are struggling, I want you to know that the way you feel isn't always the way it truly is, there are people in your community that care and are willing to help, and that it can and does get better.
